Look-Alike Fonts

Ah, look alike fonts! An unusual term. The definition of look alike fonts: a pair (or more) of fonts that look very similar or identical. I'm here to give you font detectives & inspectors some very sneaky look alike fonts--so you can save money (if you're thinking of buying a look alike font(s) and have some neat information on this new discovery.

Pair #1
The first and most common pair includes Arial & Helvetica. These two fonts are so similar! During a Font Survey, subjects who were asked which font a certain text was written in (either Arial or Helvetica) they always guessed the opposite of the answer!

Pair #2
One of my newer discoveries - a very shocking one - is the similarities between Century, Century Schoolbook & TeXGyreSchola. The three of those fonts vary in their thin/light to boldness, but have the basic same structure!

Pair #3
A pretty obvious one, for most Vanessa Bays font fans - YummyCupcakes & DaddysGirl. The only differences I've noticed are the hearts on the lowercase i & j of DaddysGirl and a few different curves on both.

Pair #4
This pair consists of Adobe Garamond Pro (italic) & Garamond (italic). You can tell by their names that they would probably be similar... and they are! Almost identical, the two fonts have much in common. Especially their italic side!

Pair #5
This unusual pair consists of Segoe UI & Ebrima. Ebrima is an unusual font that is basically the same as Segoe UI - so if you can't find Segoe UI then you're in luck if you have Ebrima! These fonts are almost as similar as Helvetica and Arial, so you don't have to worry about any [major] differences.

If you have any pairs of your own, please leave a comment!
